ABOUT THE GALA

The Black Professionals Association Charitable Foundation (BPACF) invites you to its 45th Annual Scholarship & Awards Gala—an unforgettable evening celebrating Black excellence, intergenerational leadership, and student success. More than 600 guests from Northeast Ohio’s business, civic, and community sectors gather each year to support the next generation of Black professionals.

This year’s theme, “The Intersection of Legacy and Duty,” selected by our honoree, reminds us of the power of community and the responsibility to invest in those coming behind us.

2025 Black Professional of the Year

Lorna Wisham

Former Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Community Involvement and President, FirstEnergy Foundation
FirstEnergy Corp.

Lorna Wisham brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across government, philanthropy, and corporate affairs, with a steadfast commitment to equity, education, and community empowerment. As the former Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Community Involvement and President of the FirstEnergy Foundation, she allocated over $72 million in charitable contributions and philanthropic investments across FirstEnergy’s mid-Atlantic service territory. A native of Northeast Ohio and proud alumna of The University of Akron and American University, Lorna has also served in mayoral administrations, as a federal lobbyist on Capitol Hill, and on numerous nonprofit boards during her career.  She currently serves on the boards of the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation, First Tee of Cleveland, United Way of Greater Cleveland, In Counsel With Women and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.  She is also an alum of Leadership Akron Signature 38, Leadership Cleveland Class of 2005 and the German Marshall Fund. In selecting the 2025 Gala theme, “The Intersection of Legacy and Duty,” she invites us to reflect on the responsibility to uplift future generations while honoring those who paved the way. Her career exemplifies this powerful intersection—where visionary leadership meets deep-rooted community care.
